I eat oatmeal almost every single day and never get tired of it. You can get so creative with the flavors and toppings.
I didn't like it at first but after trying out different things I totally fell in love with it.
It keeps me full for a long time, it's so easy to make and a great way to get your protein.
So how do you make the best oatmeal?
Let's start with the basic plain oatmeal:
ingredients:
45g oats (you can use quick oats, steel cut oats or rolled oats)
170ml water or plant milk (or a combination of both)*
*Do you want is extra creamy? Only use plant milk.
Microwaved oatmeal:
Combine the oats and liquid in a bowl and microwave it for about 2 minutes.
Stovetop oats:
Add the liquid in a saucepan and let it boil.
Add in the oats and reduce the heat to low.
Keep stirring until the oats absorbed almost all the liquid. (depending on the consitency you like)
Now that you know the basics, it's time to get creative. Here are some ideas for you:
1: Banana bread oats.
Add half of a mashed banana, cinnamon, vanilla extract and maple syrup. Top it with the other half of the banana, cinnamon, peanut butter and walnuts.
2: Strawberry sundae oats.
Mash a few strawberries and add this to your oatmeal with a tbsp of your favorite yoghurt. Top it with strawberries, yoghurt and coconut flakes.
3: Chocolate oats.
Add a tbsp of cacoa into your oatmeal and top this with your favorite fruit, peanut butter and a piece of chocolate and let it melt.
4: Apple pie oats.
Cut an apple into cubes, add cinnamon and maple syrup and microwave for 30 seconds. You
can use this as a topping with raisins or you can stir it into your oatmeal.
